CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – "There is no basis for the Akbayan to accuse the Office of the President that it is hesitant to process the complaint they filed against Ducut."

So, said Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. Tuesday, as he clarified that that Malacañang is still studying the case filed by Akbayan Representatives Walden Bello and Ibarra Gutierrez against Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Chief Zenaida Ducut.

The Palace denied the partylist’s claim that the current administration is "hesitating to process" the filed complaint against the Kapampangan ERC chief.

"These processes are usually supervised by the Office of the Executive Secretary. So we will inquire from them and give you an update soon," Coloma said.

Coloma added that the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs is currently doing the study of the complaint of the partylist.

"Kailangan kasing magkaroon ng batayan para sa mga aksyon na yan at sa ngayon walang nakikita pang ganyang batayan," the PCOO chief added.

It can be remembered that Akbayan Partylist filed a complaint against Ducut for alleged "neglect of duty for failing to protect the interest of the public when she allowed the power rate hike."

Ducut stood on her ground of not leaving her post even though a case was filed against her before the Office of the President. The Palace affirmed its decision that there is no need for Ducut’s voluntary resignation or leave of absence. (Kristine Venet Q. Andal)
