ANGELES CITY -- The Tree of Light, Tree of Life project of SM City Clark for Typhoon Yolanda victims has produced P1.02 million as of yesterday.
This was learned from Aaron Jeffrey Montenegro, SM City Clark assistant mall manager, who said that the amount is in the form of both cash and pledges.
Montenegro said the mall is still accepting donations for the project, which is aimed at building houses for disaster victims in the Visayas region.
The amount will be turned over to the SM Cares Foundation, which is directly coordinating with local government units in affected areas, Montenegro said.
The mall, under the leadership of Mall Manager Ana Datu, launched the fund-raising project a month ago in cooperation with the Clark Development Corporation and the local government units of Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Porac and Magalang.
Datu expressed gratitude to officials of Clark Freeport and the LGUs for supporting the project.
The SM Supermalls has allocated P100 million to fund various initiatives in order to help the typhoon victims.
SM malls all over the country implemented their respective projects to augment the funds donated by SM Supermalls.
