CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Franda Mall, believed to be the first ever mall in the City of San Fernando that rose many years before other bigger malls here, re-opened with a fresh look over the weekend.

Businesswoman and civic leaders Lina Velez of Franda Mall told Sun.Star Pampanga that the family has decided to operate the mall along General Hizon Avenue on their own, transforming it to a family-oriented entertainment center.

"Franda Mall for some years was somewhat forlorn and forgotten as the first of its kind in the city. So we decided that we renovate it, give it a fresh new look and turn it into a center where families can spend time and bond together," she said.

The main feature of the mid-sized mall is the Franda Family Bowling Center. Along with it are karaoke rooms, a gym, canteen, billiards hall and gym.

"Many more other service and commercial stalls will be constructed for families to enjoy," Velez added.

Meanwhile, Mayor Edwin Santiago welcomed Franda Mall's re-opening, saying it would "revive business and entertainment" in the southern part of the city.

"Franda Mall could very well be the start of many more establishments in this part of the city which would bring back vibrancy. We are looking at supporting them by holding tournaments in their family bowling center. Who knows? The next Paeng Nepomuceno might be a Fernandino discovered at Franda Mall," Santiago quipped.
