14 vehicles in drag race seized by Arayat police

CAMP OLIVAS -- A total of 14 different types of vehicles involved in a drag race along Barangay San Pablo-Arenas in Arayat town were confiscated by police operatives last Sunday, reports said.

In a report here, Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, Pampanga police provincial director, said that 11 single motorcycles -- a Suzuki; black Bonus X110 SYM (9383-OH); red and black Honda Wave 100 (RI-7418); black Honda XRM (TQ-4914); black Yamaha without plate; red Honda XRM 110 (IB-2947); yellow Honda Wave 100(US-3518); black Suzuki X4 (BY-4135); orange Suzuki Raider 150 with no plate number; blue Honda TMX 155 (1284-IT), and a blue Honda Wave 100 (ID-3382).

Also confiscated were a Toyota Hilux, dark steel mica in color, driven by Erwin Velasquez y Galvez, 43, of San Jose Concepcion, Tarlac; Toyota Hi Lux, silver in color, with plate number NDO-707, driven by Xerhill Lagade, 29, of San Antonio, Geronimo, Tarlac; and Mitsubishi Montero Sports, gray in color, with plate number RLH-841, driven by Jan Bryan Cabarios, 25, of Don Pepe Cojuangco, Tarlac City.


The motorcycle drivers, most of who are minors, were taken for questioning while their vehicles are impounded at the Arayat Police Station.

The drivers of the trucks and the SUV, were who allegedly bettors, were also arrested by police.

Albayalde said drag racing in the area starts at the boundary of Sta. Ana town and ends in Barangay Arenas, Arayat.

Arayat police are now preparing appropriate charges against the drivers of the motorcycles and the alleged bettors. (Ric Sapnu)
