CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Advocates of the Aagapay sa Matatanda (Ama) Party-list had called for the strict implementation of benefits for senior citizens as provided by the law enacted by Congress.

Linda Gaddi-David, Federation of the Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines president, Ama Partylist chairperson and nominee, said senior citizens should be given priority in government programs as they have already done their part in building a stronger nation.

She said Ama is joining the 2013 midterm elections to push for programs that will promote the general well-being of the senior citizens.

Ama belongs to the first batch of party-lists approved by the Commission on Elections after their credentials and track records have proven that they truly represent a marginalized sector.

Among their list of legislative agendas are health programs, scholarship grants for the children of senior citizens, livelihood via senior citizen cooperative drug store, social pension, establishment of legal team.

Ama also plans to initiate the construction of Senior Citizens Regional Center and home for the aged to provide immediate assistance to senior citizens.

Other Ama Party-list nominees are retired Justice Agustin Dizon, Judge Ricardo Agapito, Josue Mora and Zoilo Abenoja.
