PORAC -- Town councilor Mike Tapang is now pushing for a private-public partnership (PPP) for the realization of the 16-kilometer proposed toll road on the west lateral portion of the FVR Megadike in the town.
Tapang, who met with Pampanga second district Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo recently, said that the project should be pursued to realize the full potential of the quarry industry here and save the roads leading to quarry areas here from further damage from overloaded trucks and cargo vehicles.
Tapang said the project will significantly reduce the current heavy traffic along the major roads and highways within Porac, Angeles City, Bacolor, Sta. Rita and the City of San Fernando.
The toll road, if approved, will be under the monitoring of the Toll Management Board who will determine the toll fees to be charged from the use of the facility.
The toll road will also serve as a gateway into the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway (SCTEx) for the southern towns of Pampanga.
The purpose of the project is to become an alternative route for commercial vehicles, particularly quarry trucks, and private vehicles, which traverse the area going to Manila. The route is also seen to connect the third district of Pampanga with the SCTEx through the Porac Interchange in Barangay Cangatba here.
