WHAT started out as a simple experiment to bring the best in contemporary music together has turned out to be the most exciting musical gathering in the City of San Fernando with SM City Pampanga hosting the first ever Cast Away Music Festival.
It was seventh heaven for the young sound trippers as SM was able to bring together the best in local and international sound. The event set at the SM Amphitheater was not enough to contain the youthful heat of young people who trooped to see their favorite performers.
The line-up included award-winning Filipino rock band Up Dharma Down; Filipino rock super group Franco, Manila's hottest Hip Hop Mash-up artist DJ Ron Poe; band Kjwan; Filipino reggae band Brownman Revival; rock, pop punk, alternative band Save Me Hollywood; alternative rock quartee She's Only Sixteen; rock band Runmanila, Jensen and The Flips, reggae music band Indio-I; Kiro; Dr. Flavor and popular Canadian Flipnote artist Mc Boo.
It was an unbelievable line-up of the best contemporary music. The best thing was the event was not some commercial concert and young people could easily avail of tickets and memorabilia items.
SM City Public Relations Officer Rain Cervantes said that the event aims to highlight the mall’s summer celebration with a perfect gathering of the best bands and performers that the young generation, and even the not-so-young, can easily identify with.
"What’s best way to beat the summer heat but in afternoon of music and youthful fun," Cervantes said as she joined the Generation Y in a myriad of dancing and water splashing. Most of us who attended the event could only ask SM for a repeat. It was one spirited concert that made everyone forget the summer heat.
