CEBU CITY -- TripAdvisor, the world's most influential travel site, announced Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu as 2014 Certificate of Excellence awardee.

Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu receives the award for the second consecutive year. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.

To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five.

“Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for our entire team at the Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu,” said Knuth Kiefer, the hotel’s general manager. “It represents an important recognition of a good combination of the company being passionately Swiss, and our associates hard work and dedication to maintain high levels of quality in service. We would like to thank our guests for their opinions on TripAdvisor, because their comments help us to grow and improve every day. There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers.”

Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Comments from guests include: "Beyond my expectations," "Strongly recommended for the stylish, cool & hip crowd!” and "beautiful."

Guests invariably remarked on the exceptional care given to them by staff, and the remarkable level of extra attention they have received.

Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu currently holds various awards in the hospitality industry such as TripAdvisor’s Traveller's Choice Award 2014, Luxury Category; Green Globe’s Sustainability Leadership Award 2014; an international Green Globe Certification, the first hotel to receive this recognition in The Philippines; Google’s 2nd most searched destination in The Philippines for 2013; TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence 2013 and the Eco Award for Water Innovations given by Crown Prince Willem Alexander of Netherland.

The hotel has plenty to warrant the positive feedback. Following an extensive P600m transformation, which includes all guest rooms, facilities, public spaces and the hotel’s innovative dining and entertainment venue, The Ibiza Beach Club, Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu will continue to be one of the most popular gathering places for global travelers and the local community.
