NDRRMC: 31 dead in Holy Week incidents

THIRTY-one people were killed in different incidents during the Holy Week, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Monday.

The NDRRMC said that aside from 31 fatalities, there were also 123 persons injured since the start of the Lenten Season last April 16.

Among the 31 fatalities, nine were due to separate cases of vehicular accidents, 13 came from drowning and one was due to shooting incident in the areas of Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and in Bicol region.


Another one died from fire in Binangonan, Rizal while the Ilocos Region registered four, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded two and the Northern Mindanao Region had one.

The NDRRMC was raised on red alert from April 16 until April 21 to monitor and assist the people in the occurrence of any accident. (Sunnex)
