LAWMAKER on Friday rallied behind their colleague, Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao as they expressed confidence that the eight-division world boxing champion will win convincingly in his upcoming rematch with the undefeated American Timothy Bradley.

Cebu Representative Gwendolyn Garcia said Pacquiao's strength and perseverance are his greatest assets in his sure win against Bradley.

"I wish my colleague and fellow Bisaya, Congressman Manny Pacquiao the best of luck and also pray for his victory over Bradley. Manny has the heart of a champion and the indomitable spirit of a Filipino. Those are his greatest assets," said Garcia.

House Deputy Speaker and Nueva Vizcaya Representative Carlos Padilla said Pacquiao is blessed with all the necessary assets to defeat Bradley.

"Manny has the guts, confidence, ring intelligence, stamina, speed, punching prowess and aggressiveness to overcome Bradley. These assets are also backed up by rigid training and a well-thought rematch strategy," said Padilla.

The Nueva Vizcaya lawmaker added that the House of Representatives and the entire nation would be cheering for Pacquiao in his quest for another victory.

"No less than Manny himself has confirmed that he still has the killer instinct and is unafraid to use his power and go for the knockout. Let’s all pray for his safety and victory," said Padilla.

Isabela Representative Rodolfo Albano also wished the "People's Champion" the best as he expressed confidence the boxing icon will get his revenge against the undefeated Bradley.

"To Manny, continue to do us proud. You are a true icon and inspiration for every Filipino. No doubt you will emerge victorious during this Sunday’s bout. We are fully behind you through our cheers and prayers," Albano said.

Meanwhile, Davao City Representative Isidro Ungab said the Filipino people's overwhelming support for their boxing hero counts a lot to the morale of Pacquiao in his fight against Bradley.

"I also agree that Manny is the people's favorite since he has already regained his old form and “fighting stance” in the ring," Ungab said.

Pampanga Representative Oscar Rodriguez said Pacquiao, who has consistently dedicated his fame and glory to his country and countrymen, would certainly come out the winner in the rematch against the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion.

"Do it for the country, Manny! Your discipline and knockout punch will do it, plus the prayers of our countrymen and those who love you," said Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, a free viewing of the Pacquiao fight on Sunday was set for the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and their families.

Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala, AFP Public Affairs Office chief, said that at around 9 a.m. on April 20, AFP personnel and their dependents are welcome to watch the Pacquiao-Bradley match at the AFP wellness center in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Zagala said they will also set-up a wide screen at the AFP grandstand in for those who will be accommodated at the wellness center. (With Third Anne Peralta/Sunnex)
