POLICE operatives have arrested three Japanese nationals and four Filipino cohorts for alleged involvement in human trafficking when they swooped down at the suspects' office in Pangasinan Monday night.

Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo, chief of the PNP's National Capital Region Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDG), said charges are now being prepared against the suspects.

The suspects were arrested around 8 p.m. Monday during a search of the Kame Hachi Corporation located at No. 36 Avenida street, Rizal West in Lingayen town in Pangasinan, said Fajardo.

Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, CIDG director, said the suspects use an English tutorial center as front for their illegal activities.

"Iyong mga client nila hinihimok nila na pumunta sa kanilang opisina sa Pangasinan, pag nandito na sila aakitin sila nung mga 'teachers' at hihimikun sila na isama ang mga iyon pabalik sa kani-kanilang mga bansa," he said.

Fajardo said the search was conducted by virtue of a warrant issued by San Carlos City Regional Trial Court Judge Renato Pinlac for violation of Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.

He said the operation was conducted in coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Commission, Ilocos regional police office, and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

A number of items were seized during the operation, including computers and vehicles.

"The search was done in an orderly manner with video/documentation in the presence of barangay officials of the said area and no items subject of the search warrant were taken," said Fajardo.

The arrested suspects are now detained at the Pangasinan provincial jail. (With VR/Sunnex)
