Police: Suspect behind Ateneo bomb threat may be an insider-A A +A

THE person behind the bomb threat in the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) on Wednesday might be an insider, police said.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Thursday that they were looking at the angle that the suspect in the bomb threat which turned into a hoax may have been someone from the university since he/she knows the mobile numbers of the employees who received the threat.
On Wednesday, Ateneo was prompted to suspend work and classes due to a bomb threat received by three campus employees.
The three Ateneo employees who received text message at around 9:45 a.m.
"May bomba na sasabog sa ateneo paniguradong madaming empleyado at estudyante and mamamatay, 30 minutos mula ngayon," text message reads.
University officials immediately called the police for assistance.
Hours later, police said they have not seen any bomb in the campus as stated in the text message. At around 5 p.m. the area was declared cleared and people were allowed to get in the university to retrieve their belongings which they left in time of the evacuation.
However, police said that at around 4 p.m. the number, which was used by the suspect, was still reachable within 300 to 500 meter from the area.
"Nang nilalapitan naming 'yung area kung saan naming natrace 'yung number bigla nang naputol ang linya at hindi na ma-contact 'yung tao," QCPD Station 9 commander superintendent Richard Fiesta said.
He said should the suspect be caught, he/she will face minor charges of dissemination of false information case. (Sunnex)
