TELEVISION host Mariel Rodriguez was devastated by the death of her baby when she was eight weeks pregnant, said her husband actor Robin Padilla.

Interviewed by Cinema News on Saturday, the action star said his wife waited long enough to have her first child with him and she is still mourning the loss of their "cutie pie".

"Nalulungkot ako para kay Mariel. Siyempre, siya yung nangarap and iba kasing joy yung dinulot sa kanya nun," he said.

Padilla added that his wife was not ready yet to let go of the baby.

Natural naman daw na lalabas yun," he said.

Rodriguez was eight weeks pregnant when the couple found out that the baby had no heartbeat.

Padilla uploaded a video on his Facebook page last March 19 recalling the moment when the doctor informed them of the unfortunate news.

In the video, Rodriguez was seen excited at first but later on became emotional while she was telling someone of the baby's condition on the telephone.

The actor wrote in the said post that they did plan his wife's pregnancy and waiting for it to happen.

Purihin ang nag-iisang Panginoong Maylikha at ang kanyang kadakilaan," he said.

Padilla added in the Cinema News interview that his wife's miscarriage was disappointing but he said he is ready to be a father again.

The couple was married in August 2010 at the Taj Mahal in India.
