ACTRESS Heart Evangelista said she will understand if her parents, Cecile and Rey Ongpauco, will not be able to attend her wedding to Senator Francis Escudero next year.
In a "StarTalk" interview on weekend, the Kapuso talent said the blessing give by her parents is enough already for her and Escudero.
"With what happened, it's so hard for them to be apart. Yung first step is they gave us the blessing na magpakasal kami. What's important is binigay nila yung blessing and for now, that's good enough for me," she said.
To recall, when Escudero went down on one knee to ask the actress' hand in marriage, he showed a text message from the latter's father congratulating them on the engagement news.
Evangelista said the situation is also difficult for her parents, especially for her mother, as they only want what is best for her.
"I know you [Cecile] don't show it but you have all these fears. But be confident that you instill good things in me. You gave me a good heart and I'll always be grateful of all your sacrifices and everything that you've done for me," she said.
"I know your fears, but be confident because you raised me well. By living a good life, I'm sure one day, you'll be happy for me. You'll be confident that you I made the right choice," she added.
The actress said that if the wedding comes and her parents will not be beside her, she will walk down the aisle alone as no one can replace the love given by the Ongpaucos.
"Maybe not everybody will understand kung dumating yung araw na ikakasal ako at wala sila doon. Ako lang makakaintindi noon. Kung masyado siyang [Rey] masasaktan seeing me go, I understand. If he's not there to walk me down the aisle, I walk the aisle on my own because nobody can replace you," she said.
Meanwhile, that actress confirmed that they are already in the planning stages of the wedding.
She said she had meetings with the florists and wedding coordinator and revealed that the big event might take place on Valentine's Day, February 14, which is also her birthday.
"We want it very intimate, very private. Two days siya. Mayroon kaming isa na far away kami from the reality of our lives, that we can stop time and enjoy the moment. Then we're going back to Manila to celebrate with everybody," she said.
The actress revealed that best friends, Alessandra de Rossi and Lovi Poe, and Escudero's children will all be part of the celebration. (Sunnex)
