Nora Aunor wins big at 2014 Cinemalaya

SUPERSTAR Nora Aunor proved again her acting prowess as she bagged the Best Actress trophy in the Directors Showcase category at the recently concluded Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.

Held on Sunday evening at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the award ceremony recognized the best films, productions and performances in this year's festival.

Aunor took home the top acting trophy for Joel Lamangan's "Hustisya".


Dennis Trillo-starrer "The Janitor" bagged most of the awards in the said category, including Best Director for Michael Tuviera, Best Supporting Actor for Nicco Manalo, and Best Sound for Mike Idioma, among others.

Meanwhile, seasoned actress Eula Valdez also won the Best Actress award for "Dagitab (Sparks)," which competed in the New Breed category.

Directed by Giancarlo Abrahan, "Dagitab" also went home with Best Director and Best Screenplay trophies.
