AFTER admitting that they are now proud parents to Baby Zion, actor Richard Gutierrez and girlfriend Sarah Lahbati organized a big first birthday bash cum christening for their curly tot.

Held Sunday at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Mandaluyong City, the showbiz event was attended by the couple's closest friends and family in and out of the industry. Other political figures were also included in the list.

Richard and Sarah picked 25 godparents for their baby boy. Among them are Vice President Jejomar Binay, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Secretary Panfilo Lacson, TV5 Chairman Manuel Pangilinan, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, Leyte Representative Lucy Torres, seasoned actress Susan Roces and Regal Entertainment matriarch Lily Monteverde.

Television hosts Willie Revillame, Kris Aquino, Richard's siblings Ruffa, Elvis, Raymond and Tonton Gutierrez, Angel Locsin, Richard Gomez, Gretchen Barretto, Bela Padilla, Neil Arce, TJ Trinidad, among others, also serve as godparents to Baby Zion.

In a "Buzz" interview with the proud father, Richard said he's happy that they get to share this important event with their friends and family.

He also thanked everyone who sent their well wishes for his son.

"I'm over the moon right now, very overwhelming, very happy. I'm very thankful."

When asked how fatherhood changed him, the 30-year-old replied: "There was not a conscious effort, it just came naturally. I just spent more time at home. It also got me thinking straight and talagang lumaki lang yung puso ko sa pagmamahal because of Baby Zion."

Richard added that he and Sarah are doing well so far as parents to their baby boy.

"It's been one great adventure for both of us, we're loving everyday with Baby Zion, we love waking up next to him and just being hands on parents." (Sunnex)
