ACTOR Xian Lim said he is ready to suit up and play a superhero once ABS-CBN chooses him as the next Captain Barbell, the fictional character created by the late novelist Mars Ravelo, on primetime television.

During the press launch of his second album "XL2" on Thursday, the 24-year-old actor was asked if he is interested in the coveted role.

"Ngayon ko lang talaga narinig pero may nakikita ako na online voting. The supporters get really excited to the point na gagawa talaga sila ng ganun. Nakikita ko din yung efforts nila and I’m sure excited na din sila makita ako ulit sa TV," he said, referring to a poll conducted by starometer.com.

Lim said he was able to watch few clips of the 1986 Viva Films-produced movie starring Edu Manzano (as Captain Barbell) and Herbert Bautista as (Enting) but failed to view the latest installment of the movie.

"Nakapanood na ako ng clips pero hindi yung kabuuan. Hindi pa masyadong colored nun," he said.

The actor said he is thankful that fans want him for role.

"Maraming salamat at sinusuportahan nila ako and why not diba? Isang dream role yan para sa kahit na sinong actor. Kung i-cast nila ako doon, ready ako," he said.

In 2013, ABS-CBN earned the exclusive rights to remake the classic creations of Ravelo. Among them is the current primetime series "Dyesebel," which stars Anne Curtis, Gerald Anderson and Sam Milby.

"Darna" and "Captain Barbell" are next to star in the new adaption of Ravelo's classic creations. (Sunnex)
