DEREK Ramsay said he is still contemplating whether to continue his career in show business once his contract with the Kapatid Network expires by the first quarter of 2015.

In an interview with the actor at the TV5 event for the Ad Summit Pilipinas 2014 in Subic, Zambales, Derek shared that he wants to spend more time with his family, especially with his parents who are now both in their 70s.

"I have this feeling that I should have time for my family. I don't want to sit one day and say I wish I had more time with them. I'm not saying that they are not healthy, they are healthy, but alam mo naman ang buhay," he said.

Derek continued: "I've sacrificed so much time in the past eight years away from them. Maybe it's time for me to do something for my family. I haven't decided. It's just thoughts entering inside my head."

But the actor clarified that if he decides to continue his run in the entertainment industry, he will definitely renew his contract with TV5.

The actor said the network has been "amazing" since he signed the three-year exclusive network deal, rumored to be worth close to P300 million, in April 2012.

"They really look into who I am. That's why I made the move. They got to know what I am passionate about, they know I'm wired for sports and travelling. They gave me roles and projects that deal with that," he said.

Since his transfer from ABS-CBN two years ago, the 37-year-old hosted TV5's coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics in his hometown, London, did "The Amazing Race Philippines" and top billed television series "Kidlat," "Undercover," and "For Love or Money".

When asked if he still has a wish list for his mother network, Derek said the station "completed it".

"My wish is to help TV5 reach the levels of Channels 2 and 7. I don't want to just sit here and be paid. At the end of the day, when I'm old and wrinkled, I can say that I helped this network grow," he said.

Derek is slated to host again the second season of "The Amazing Race Philippines" and will later on star opposite Aga Muhlach in a new drama teleserye.

He also has several movies in the works. (Sunnex)
