Steven Silva bags ‘Kitchen Musical’ role-A A +A

KAPUSO actor Steven Silva joins the cast of the upcoming Kitchen Musical series, "The Boston".
Slated to be released this June, the Singaporean-based production is behind the first "The Kitchen Musical" show which featured Filipino performers Karylle and Christian Bautista.
Steven, who formally joined show business through talent-reality search "StarStruck," said he was very fortunate to be tapped for the series after attending several auditions and call backs.
He said it was a nerve-wracking experience, but something that is totally worth it.
"My first audition was conducted in GMA last year, around September 2013, and after that followed numerous call backs before I learned I was part of the final cast. It was a very thorough process and I could tell they really wanted to make sure that each character was to be filled by the right actors," Steven said.
The Kapuso actor disclosed he will play the role of "Sid," the pastry chef in "The Boston" restaurant.
"He is interesting in the sense that he is one of the more skillful chefs in the kitchen, yet he is very soft spoken and doesn't necessarily take command even though he is more than qualified to do so," Steven said on his character.
The 27-year-old continued: "He is also very particular to his sense of style and physical upkeep and appearance. In a sense, he is very metro sexual and sometimes even borders on homosexual by his attitude, tendencies and tone of voice, yet no one really knows the truth."
Steven believes his degree in Culinary Arts, which he took at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, helped him booked the job.
"One of my assets that helped me and also allowed me to help my fellow cast during our shoot was my culinary background. I did my best whenever there were questions regarding kitchen etiquette, practices, or just anything to help make our show give a high sense of realism, especially in the kitchen and during cooking sequences."
He finished the course in 2010, before coming to the Philippines and eventually signing up for "StarStruck."
Right now, Steven relishes this big chance to make a name not only in the country, but also abroad. He's also thankful to his mother network, GMA-7, for the continuous support.
"I don't want to give up the opportunity to do this kind of project. This only comes once in a lifetime. And working with these great actors just makes me feel good because I was able to be in their company. I wish that this will open big doors for me in the future."
Aside from Steven, the other Filipino casts included in "The Boston" are comedian Dax Martin and stage actor Red Concepcion. (Sunnex)
