JASMINE Curtis-Smith is keen to distance herself from issues involving her elder sister Anne Curtis and her rumored boyfriend Sam Concepcion.

In an interview with the actress during her birthday celebration at "SPINNation," the 20-year-old declined to comment on the reported confrontation between Curtis and Concepcion during the birthday party of "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda last March 31.

Smith said she doesn't want to complicate things as she is not involved in the controversy. She was in Bulacan for the taping of "Dementia" when the incident happened and made headlines on social media.

"Whatever happened, that's only with the people who are there and I refused to be involved because I was not there. I don't want to make this bigger," she said. "I asked both of them because I want to understand everyone that was involved. They were both very open and very honest to me, but I'm not in the position to talk."

"People think that I'm the one who could clear this issue up or save people's name; I don't have the right because I don't know what they went through that evening," she added.

The young actress reiterated that her relationship with both her sister and Concepcion has not changed because of the reported bar confrontation. She said "it's pretty silly" that some people believe that her closeness with the "Dyesebel" actress is now tainted because of the controversy.

"My relationship with anyone has not changed, my sister, my family, with Sam, they're all the same. It all boils down to communication," she said.

"Anyone naman who goes through an issue, I symphatize with them. But it's not my personal issue and I stir away from feeling the same way they are feeling and instead try to comfort them. Kasi nga bakit naman ako makikisawsaw sa issue na hindi ako kasama or hindi ko naman dapat maramdaman. Sa kanila na yun," she added.

Aside from the reported confrontation between Curtis and Concepcion, the latter is also being linked to his "Mirabella" leading lady Julia Barretto, who is rumored to be getting closer to the singer/actor.

When asked about this, Smith replied: "It's not really my issue to speak on. I don't know where that came from, I don't know how her name pops, so whatever you guys want to believe, it's up to you."

She said she is not affected by the issues because she's focusing only on happy thought and her family.

"Life is so short so why focus on the negative things when there are so many things to be thankful for," she said.

She said she understands that intrigues and controversies are all part of show business and her older sister has taught her the "art of dedma."

"I'm part of showbiz and I'm not going to tell people na wag kayong magsulat ng ganito. It's going to be part of my life now and it's normal. I can't complain about it because it's the life I chose. There's nothing I can't get through without my belief, strength and my faith," Jasmine ended (Sunnex)
