COMEDIAN Vice Ganda celebrated his Best Actor victory in the recently concluded PMPC Star Awards for Movies amid claims of vote-buying.

In Wednesday's episode of noon time variety program "It's Showtime," Vice commented on the allegation of entertainment columnist Jobert Sucaldito that comedian's "winning was paid".

Vice said that he heard of the issue but doesn't want to dwell on the negative side. Instead, he thanked the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), organizer of the event, for choosing him among all the nominees in the top acting category.

Tumahimik na lang ako," he said.

The comedian then hugged the trophy.

Aside from the PMPC, he also thanked all the moviegoers for supporting his 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy."

To recall, Sucaldito questioned Ganda's trophy after he accused one voting member of the PMPC for lobbying for the comedian.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the radio host recalled that two weeks ago, some members of the PMPC approached and asked him if he will not "lobby" for "Boy Golden" lead star, Laguna Governor ER Ejercito.

As Ejercito's PR man, Sucaldito made sure to get votes from more than half of the 38 active voting members of the group. But to his surprise, Ejercito did not win the acting award.

"Nagbayad siya ng pera sa mga kasamahan niya sa PMPC para manalo si Vice Ganda who is abroad," Sucaldito said referring to one PMPC member.

He continued: "Nanalo si Vice Ganda dahil kontrolado nila ang results. I am an outsider of PMPC kaya I have all the right to lobby.

Since the controversy broke out, the PMPC board released a statement, saying they are saddened by the turn of events and will stand by their decision that Vice Ganda is 2013 Best Actor winner. (Sunnex)
