SEASONED actress Alice Dixson tells Anne Curtis to have fun portraying the iconic mermaid character "Dyesebel".
It was recently announced by ABS-CBN that the "It's Showtime" host will play the lead character in the television remake of the Mars Ravelo classic and will star opposite Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson.
"Just have fun with the role and it will be very memorable. Kasi ako I was remembered by that role and it made me. I'm sure she's in good company" was Dixson's reply when asked during the "Confessions of A Torpe" press conference.
Dixson played the fictional comic book character in 1990 with Richard Gomez as her leading man. She was only 18 years old when they started filming the project under the direction of Mel Chionglo.
"It took us how many years, three years in the making, to film it. So when natapos ko 'yung film, mag 20 na ata ako," she said.
When asked if she can play a similar role now, the Kapatid actress said she's done her part and would rather play a different role in the successful television and movie franchise.
"Kaya ko but we didn't have the same viewership. Siguro if I played special participation, but for it to revolve around me, nagawa ko na 'yun eh. There's nothing new for the viewers," she said.
"If you put me as a kontrabida in the show, I'd like to do that. That would be fun for me," she added.
Aside from Alice, "Dyesebel" was once played by Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos (1973), Alma Moreno (1978), Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach (1996) and most recently Marian Rivera (2008) in a similar TV adaptation aired on GMA-7. (Sunnex)
