YOUNG actress Kathryn Bernardo said the fans have to wait a little bit more for her first on-screen kiss with perennial leading man Daniel Padilla.

During the thanksgiving press conference of "Got To Believe," director Cathy Garcia-Molina was asked if Padilla and Bernardo's supporters will be treated to the couple's first on-screen kiss in the finale episode of the primetime series.

Molina said the young actors are still not comfortable doing that kind of scene and she personally doesn't want it to happen anytime soon.

"Bilang ina, ayoko muna. There are more movies to come, shows to come. In time. Nakapag-antay nga tayo kay John Lloyd (Cruz) and Sarah (Geronimo), ito pa kaya," she said.

Bernardo, for her part, said she's not yet ready for that next level. She's keen to keep things light and age appropriate.

"Feeling ko it's too early. Kasi kapag nasimulan mo na iyon, feeling ko parang kailangan sa lahat ng shows mo, may ganoon ka na. Parang hindi ka na pwedeng tumanggi or hindi ka pwedeng mag reason na 'Ayaw ko,'" She said.

"So, as ako talaga, hindi pa. Marami pang pwede, pwedeng hanggang hug lang muna, kiss sa cheeks, pwede. Pero kapag sa lips, time will come for that," she said.

Padilla agreed with Bernardo's sentiment and said they've done everything to provide entertainment and not disappoint the viewing public.

But when the right time comes, the 18-year-old actor hopes his leading lady will share it with him and not with other men.

"Siguro po dapat si Kathryn (ang first on-screen kiss ko) dahil sa haba ng pinagsamahan namin, kung sa iba lang mapupunta, bad trip naman iyon," he said.

Molina is also certain that in the seven months the show dominated the airwaves, the success of the teleserye does not rely entirely on a kiss. He said the chemistry and performances of each character in the program captured the hearts of the viewers.

"Hindi magi-gauge doon ang 'best ending ever' sa kissing scene lang. Basta abangan nila kung ano ang mangyayari kay Joaquin and Chichay (Padilla and Bernardo's characters)," the director said.

"Got To Believe" ends May 7. (Sunnex)
