Bobot Mortiz explains Xian’s misbehavior in ‘Banana Nite’-A A +A

"BANANA Nite" director Edgar "Bobot" Mortiz said actor Xian Lim was not briefed that Kim Chiu's impersonator will join him onstage during the show's Chinese New Year celebration last January 31.
In a recent press conference, Mortiz said it was actually meant as a surprise to the actor while he was serenading the audience but they didn't expect the turn of events, especially when Xian poked fun at the impersonator.
"Hindi sana ganoon ang mangyayari kung naturuan namin yung look-a-like. Nagulat din si Xian sa nangyari. May pagkukulang din kami doon," said Mortiz.
During the show, the Kapamilya hunk asked Kim's impersonator, "Anong ginagawa ni Bea Binene dito?"
Binene is a talent of rival GMA.
The “kaloka-like” was taken aback by the actor's comment and remained silent until the show's host Jayson Gainza joined the two onstage.
Gainza tried to deflect the conversation but Xian blurted out: "Tanungin natin kung anong teleserye nila sa GMA. Si Bea Binene."
Mortiz said it was just a miscommunication between Xian and the production team and the actor even asked for the impersonator's number to say sorry.
"May mga pagkakataon naman minsan na mali lang yung reaction natin. Hindi mo pala alam na mali yung nagawa mo. And hindi naman niya sinasadya," he said.
What's important, the director added, is that Xian apologized for his actions.
"Siyempre ang mga tao naman, tao lang 'yan nagkakamali. Hindi naman dahil nagkamali ka na ay habambuhay mo nang dala-dala ang pagkakamali mong 'yun," said Mortiz. "Alam mo pag nagsu-sorry ka, sign of humility yun so dapat tanggapin natin. Bihira ang taong nagsu-sorry."
Mortiz said the "Bride for Rent" actor is still welcome to guest in "Banana Nite," "Banana Split" and all comedy shows of ABS-CBN. (Sunnex)
