CEBUANA actress Kim Chiu left all the negative issues behind and ready to face the new year with a positive attitude and happy heart.

The Kapamilya star and perennial love team Xian Lim will both star in the opening salvo movie of Star Cinema, the romantic-comedy "Bride for Rent."

During the press conference of the said project, Kim shared she's let go of the past and has already forgiven and forgotten all the bad things that had happen in 2013.

"Sino ba naman ang hindi mo iiwan sa mga masasamang nangyari. Naiwan ko na 'yun and I've already learned my lesson and mas alam mo na 'yung gagawin ngayong 2014. Punung-puno ng lessons and a lot to be thankful for," she said.

Let's start the year with happiness and laughter."

According to Kim, although she experienced personal heartaches last year, from the demise of her mother to the collapse of her friendship with best friend Maja Salvador because of the latter's relationship with ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson, it taught her to be strong and to value more and be thankful for the people around her.

Kim said, "Lahat naman tayo may natututunan. Katulad dito sa movie, lahat ng tao may kani-kaniyang tao na nakikilala natin. Ako may role ako sa kay Direk (Mae Cruz), sa buhay niya, kay Xian sa buhay niya."

"May nakikilala tayo na tao na may matutunan tayo ng lesson. Hindi siya 'yung dadaan lang sa buhay mo. Mayroon talaga, either it's good or bad," she added.

But the actress revealed a very telling insight on what she went through and what she experienced from last year's hullabaloo with Maja and Gerald.

Kim, without blatantly putting it, said she was afraid to make friends again.

"Medyo takot na ako makipagkaibigan." She continued, "Choice ko lang para hindi ako masyadong masaktan or ano man."

Kim also said, "After nung nangyari, nailang na akong mag-effort na makipagkaibigan, parang masaya na lang ako na nagtatrabaho ako and andiyan 'yung mga kapatid ko, kapamilya ko, mga pamangkin ko. Masaya na ako doon, sa work and family."

What seemed to be her saving grace, aside from family, legion of fans and continues shows on television, is close friend and rumored boyfriend Xian.

Xian, whom she first worked with in "My Binondo Girl," would often visit her in the house and has established a close relationship with her siblings, niece and nephews, and father.

"Nagre-reach out siya. Medyo mailap ako kasi hindi na ako 'yung 'Halika, labas tayo, party tayo. Hindi na ako ganoon. Siya 'yung nag-effort na makipagkaibigan sa family ko, na comfort zone ko. Siya 'yung lumalapit doon," she said.

Kim said she’s contented in knowing that she has her family and a small group of friends whom she can rely on anytime.

"Masaya na ako na nagtatrabaho ako and andiyan 'yung mga kapatid ko, mga pamamgkin ko. Work and family," she ended.

“Bride for Rent” opens January 15 in theaters nationwide. (Sunnex)
