ACTRESS Janice de Belen confirmed the ongoing off screen "tension" between Kim Chui and Maja Salvador on the set of ABS-CBN's primetime series "Ina, Kapatid, Anak".

In a recent interview with the actress, Janice said that it is normal for Kim and Maja to feel uncomfortable around each other as both of them are now at the center of a controversy, involving Kim's ex-boyfriend and Maja's rumored suitor, Gerald Anderson.

Janice, however, clarified that the two young stars remain professional on the set despite their apparent personal differences.

"Ganun talaga. Alam naman natin yun. Trabaho parin ito. Masaya parin naman sa set namin," she said.

Asked if the ongoing feud between Maja and Kim contributes to its high ratings, Janice said it does contribute a bit but stressed that the storyline still plays a big factor for the show's success.

"Curious ang mga tao. Kaya ba nilang mag work together? Do they have scenes together? I think part of that is the curiosity. But that's only a percentage. Mas lamang parin yung content," she said.

Asked about Gerald whom she had worked with in the past, Janice said the young actor is doing fine. However, she felt sad on the criticism being thrown against Gerald.

"I feel bad for him because sa extent ng pagkakakilala ko sa kanya ay hindi naman siya masama. Everybody deserves to be happy. Everybody deserves a love life," she said.

Janice, who played the role of Gerald's mother in the hit primetime series "Budoy," said the young actor deserves to be happy.

Maja, meanwhile, declined to comment further on the issue as she believed that it will not help patch up her strained friendship with Kim.

"Mas pinipili ko yung peace, yung tumahimik na lang kesa magsalita ako, ipagtanggol ko at sabihin yung side ko. Para hindi na rin kasi hahaba. Lalong gugulo at iingat at baka mas lalong grumabe yung mga isyu," she said.

The actress said she still considers Kim as her true friend and she will always be there when the Cebuana actress needs her.

"Ayoko ng i-defend yung sarili ko. Basta ako alam ko na alam niya na naging totoo akong kaibigan at hanggang ngayon, andito ako," she added.

Maja hopes to rekindle her friendship with Kim in the future. (Sunnex)
