ILOILO City is upgrading its slaughterhouse, and is looking for a contractor to do it.

The city's bids and awards committee will start entertaining bids for the project, which has a P5-million budget, City Administrator Norlito Bautista told reporters Monday.

About P1.458 million will be drawn from the Department of Agriculture and will go to the purchase of equipment. P3.55 million will come from the city's trust fund and allocated for the installation of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Bautista said there are a least five city-based contractors and suppliers that are accredited to bid for the project.
