THE Iloilo City Health Office said cleanliness is an effective way to drive away and eradicate dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Dr. Urminico Baronda said the best weapon against the spread of mosquitoes is cleanliness of the surroundings and of the household by destroying the breeding places of mosquitoes.

In Iloilo City, four people, including a five-year-old kid, died due to dengue in August this year.

Dengue is spreading in the city and there is an urgent move to clean the low-laying areas with stagnant water, Baronda said.

He said the patient, who is experiencing dengue fever, must be brought immediately to a hospital or health center for proper treatment.

Baronda encouraged village officials to conduct cleanliness drive in their areas. (Lydia C. Pendon)
