ILOILO City Councilor Plaridel Nava has admitted getting the most number of death threats among his peers at the City Council, but he said he is used to it and does not mind all.

“I am used to it but what I keep in mind is my obligation and contract for public service with the people of Iloilo City,” he said after reading a copy of the latest death threat on July 15.

Written in the Hiligaynon dialect, the latest death threat also did not spare the city councilor’s father, barangay captain Sumakwel Nava of Libertad, Lapuz, Iloilo City.

The city councilor admitted previously receiving a live ammunition of M.16 and black ribbons signifying death to the receiver and several threatening notes and phone calls.

Nava is noted for his vocal ideas and interpretation of national and local laws.

He said he is guided by his own brand of principles on public service and his main consideration is good government and total public service regardless who gets hurt in the process.

Nava also challenged his detractors to face him in court or make good their threats as he is ready to face and give them what they deserved.
