THE Iloilo Provincial Government received Thursday the P10-million capitation fund from Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for the enrolment of 48,000 indigent families this year.
The share is on top of the P25-million annual allocation of the province for the premium contribution of the sponsored beneficiaries.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said they will use the fund to procure the needed medicines and medical supplies for the province’s 12 district hospitals.
“Although it may not be enough, the fund is timely considering the need to replenish the supplies of medicines in our pharmacies right now,” he said.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said the initial estimate of the needed supplies will cost P100 million.
“It requires a big amount and the province cannot afford it so we will have a few adjustments in the request for supplemental budget before we pass it to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan,” he said.
Meanwhile, Biccel Bracamonte, the local health insurance office head of PhilHealth in Iloilo, is encouraging the sponsored beneficiaries to maximise the use of their membership.
The sponsored beneficiaries are entitled to primary care benefit package that includes free services like medical consultation, diagnostic examinations and medicines. (PIO)
