THE Iloilo City Council has granted the Saint Catherine Alternative Transport System Association (Scats) based in Leon town a temporary exemption for 60 days from the amended Comprehensive Perimeter Boundary Ordinance.

The decision allowed about 30 transport vans of Scats to enter the premises of the Jaro Big Market in Iloilo City to drop and pick up passengers.

Councilor Plaridel Nava, chairman of the City Council committee on transportation, said a letter of request was submitted by Joe Nilo Ayupan, assistant chairman of Scats, showing there is no place for the vans at the Aleosan terminal at Mandurriao district since the terminal is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

However, the vans entry at the Jaro Big Market to gather passengers is only temporary until such time the Aleosan terminal in Hibao-an, Mandurraio is completed.

The Scats will also be given four car passes to enter the city. (LCP)
