Random drug test for all City Hall employees by 2015-A A +A

ALL Iloilo City Hall employees, whether job hire, casual or permanent workers, will undergo random drug testing by 2015 to rid the City Government service of illegal drug users and pushers.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog announced this on Friday, May 30, by saying a budget of P1 million is incorporated in the 2015 city budget to purchase the necessary drug tools and kits in the beginning of the year.
Mabilog also reiterated his appreciation to Regional Director Paul Ledesma of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for a job well done after they arrested a City Hall employee in a buy-bust operation last May 28 in Barangay Santo Rosario Duran, Iloilo City.
He also requested Ledesma to prioritize the apprehension of all City Hall employees caught red handed in the illegal drugs trade.
Marvelito Cadiz, a job hire employee working at the General Services Office (GSO) as garbage collector and driver, was caught by PDEA agents selling methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as shabu to a poseur buyer.
The job hire was immediately divested of his employment at the City Hall and is currently facing criminal charges for selling the illegal substance.
Mabilog said his administration is trying to weed out the undesirable employees and the random drug test will catch the pushers or users without preparation in flushing out the illegal substance from their body.
The city mayor said that if the employees know beforehand their schedule for drug testing, they can use drinks with Vitamin C to flush out the substance one week before the drug test.
