SOME 358 barangay officials in Iloilo City are set to visit outstanding barangays in four cities in Metro Manila for exploratory learning, exchange of ideas and on-site visitation of the best practice projects.

Barangay officials from Iloilo City will visit villages from the cities of San Juan, Quezon, Las Piñas, and Tagaytay from June 4 to 7.

The Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Iloilo City chapter facilitated the learning travel of barangay captains and barangay kagawads with travel expenses of P25,000 each to be taken from their own barangay funds.

However, villages that could not afford to pay for the official travel of their officials are not forced to join the learning trip, the Liga said.

On June 4, the first local government unit to present their best practices is San Juan City with an observation tour at Barangay Onse, which recently garnered a national award as having an outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa.

On June 5, the Iloilo City barangay officials will visit Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City to observe the outstanding solid waste management practice and different livelihood programs.

On June 6, the local officials will go to Las Piñas City Hall in the morning and an observation tour at Barangay Pamplona Dos for its Integrated Solid Waste Management Program.

In the afternoon, the group will go to Tagaytay City Hall, recognized as a national finalist in the search for Most Child Friendly City and observe the People’s Park in the Sky, an awardee of Galing Pook Foundation.

On the last day on June 7, the group will prepare for the return trip to Iloilo City. (LCP)
