SOME 200 vendors trooped to Iloilo City Hall Wednesday and urged the City Government to provide better services through the redevelopment of the public market without the help of a private entity.

Lourdes Cordon, a vendor, said the City Government, assisted by the National Government, can get a substantial loan from any government banks for the rehabilitation of the market.

According to the vendors, the City Government must not rely on the offer of a private firm to build and manage the market since the rentals and other payments will immediately rise once it is in private hands.

Cordon said the Association of Stall Owners and Transient Vendors of the Iloilo City Public Market Inc. is willing to cooperate and help the City Government manage their ranks in the market.
