ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has instructed the city police office to be on alert following reports that some members of the “Martilyo” and the Ozamis robbery gangs are in the city.

Last week, the Martilyo Gang struck a jewelry shop at the Mall of Asia in Metro Manila and carted away millions of pesos worth of jewelries.

Mabilog said it is always possible that the robbers have Ilonggo friends and may seek refuge in the city.

He said all police officers, as well as barangay officials and tanods must be on full alert against the robbery gangs.

Few months ago, members of the Ozamis robbery gang and their Ilonggo accomplices were able to rob a jewelry store along JM Basa at daytime and no one was arrested by the police.

Mabilog said every one must be vigilant and report immediately to the police the presence of unknown persons trying to cash in on the business establishments in the city.

The business establishments must expand and strengthen their security preparation especially during the Holy Week, he added.
