All set for first city bike festival

MORE than 1,500 bicycle riders from Iloilo and nearby provinces will gather to ride and tour for the first Iloilo Bike Festival.

Participants will visit different tourist attractions within the city on March 30, 2014.

Senate President Franklin Drilon and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for the environment, lawyer Antonio Oposa, will grace the event that aims to drumbeat the walkability and space for the bicycles in city streets.


Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog also announced the opening of the Espalanade to bikers from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. everyday starting March 30.

The bike fest will start at 4 p.m. at the Megaworld to round up tourist stops in Jaro, La Paz, Iloilo City proper and back to the Megaworld for a street party and awarding rites.

Mabilog said the event will highlight the city’s program for bikers and pedestrians.
