TOURISM Infrastructure Economic Zone Authority (Tieza) Administrator Mark Lapid said Friday that Tieza will support the tourism projects in Iloilo City.

Lapid, during the groundbreaking rites of the Iloilo Convention Center on Friday, said the upgrading of the plazas of Jaro, Mandurriao, Arevalo and Plaza Libertad and the Jaro Belfry will also be funded by Tieza as stated in an approved bill of city lone congressman Jerry P. Treñas.

Tieza is also funding the rehabilitation of the Calle Real, the city’s central business district, including the central public market and the proposed Esplanade II along the Iloilo River from the Capitol up to the Parola costing some P200 million.

Lapid said the city tourism projects, that were initiated by the Senator Franklin Drilon and local officials, are aimed to make Iloilo a hub in the Visayas.
