IT IS all set for the Parola ferry terminal project and there is no more legal impediment to stop the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) project between the Iloilo City Government and Double Dragon Corp., an official said.

City Administrator Norlito Bautista said the P135-million ferry terminal project was evaluated by the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda), which gave the green light for its commencement slated on April 2014.

A PPP committee was created by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog with Bautista as the chairman to supervise and monitor the project.

The Neda through Regional Director Ro-ann Bacal has recommended the downloading of P123 million from the National Government through the Department of Transportation and Communications.

The amount will be treated as the City Government counterpart to be used for the construction of shoreline protection and landfill not only for the ferry terminal project but also for the adjoining lots intended for the Philippine Coast Guard and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Bautista said that other considerations include no cutting of acacia trees by the roadside and provision of safety nets for workers, among others. (LCP)
