THE owner of a lot beside the Iloilo City Hall has made a formal offer to sell the 3,063-square meter lot to the City Government amounting to P35 million for a staggered payment of P11,670 per square meter.

City Administrator Norlito Bautista said the lot of Ker and Company has lowered its lot price of P50 million previously offered and would settle for P35 million now.

Bautista said that Ker and Co. President Virgilio Cruz and Ker Iloilo manager Roger Aguilar paid a visit to Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog this week to offer the lot for sale to the city.

Bautista said the City Government has been eyeing the lot for the construction of an Executive House and a parking area for vehicles of the City Government and those transacting business with City Hall.

Bautista said purchase of the lot will be made within this year so that construction of the Executive House will start immediately while retaining the heritage design of the building.

The old building of more than 70 years, is of British design and once used as an office for a British company that deals in sugar trading at the city’s nearby Muelle Loney.

Once construction is completed, the ground floor of the building will be used for an expanded gallery of city government art exhibits, relics and important documents. The rest of the lot will be developed into a parking area.
