DSWD honors Iloilo on 63rd anniversary-A A +A

THE Provincial Government of Iloilo was again recognized for its support in implementing the anti-poverty programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas (DSWD-6) during its 63rd anniversary on Monday.
DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Administration Evangeline Felecio conferred the award to the province of Iloilo in a ceremony held at their field office along MH Del Pilar St., Molo, Iloilo City.
Among the three programs of DSWD-Western Visayas, Iloilo excelled in the implementation of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), a poverty alleviation program of the National Government that uses a community-driven development approach.
Iloilo released a total of P15,717,500 subsidy to support KALAHI-CIDSS projects like farm to market roads, civic centers, day care centers, and other needed infrastructures identified by the beneficiaries.
Aside from Iloilo, DSWD-6 also conferred the same citation to the towns of Sibunag in Guimaras and New Washington and Tangalan in Aklan.
Barangays Omlot in Lauaan, Antique and Balanac in Janiuay, Iloilo; and the Barangay Sub-Project Management Committees of Maabay in Sibunag, Guimaras and Baybay in Tangalan, Aklan also received the same.
DSWD-6 also awarded the province’s official gazette “Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo” for featuring the gains and innovations of their development programs.
Assistant Department Head Nerio Lujan of the Capitol’s Public Information and Community Affairs Office received the award. (PIO)
