THE Chinese-Filipino community in Iloilo City is bracing for their 12th year anniversary of the Chinese New Year on Friday, January 31, and has readied activities depicting the culture of China and assimilation of Filipino culture in their land.

Chairman Felipe Uygongco of the Iloilo Chinese-Filipino Cultural Association said the Iloilo celebration will be graced by Filipino-Chinese actress Kim Chiu, who will join the activity on Friday.

The program will be held in the city proper directing to the city’s Chinatown at Iznart Street.
The Iloilo City celebration is the first to be celebrated outside Metro Manila.

Other celebrations in the Visayas follow with the traditional dragon and lion dance, Chinese delicacies, food festival depicting the dishes from China, feng shui, photo exhibits dubbed as “A Glimpse of China,” and cultural dances from Chinese provinces.
