Tribe disqualified for lack of dancers

AN ATI-ATIHAN tribe was disqualified for not coming up with adequate number of dancers in the Dinagyang Festival competition and highlights slated on January 26, 2014.

City tourism officer Benito Jimena disclosed that Tribu Aninipay of Don Esteban, Lapuz in this city could not also come up with the desired number of other performers and drummers in order to put up a world-class performance during the competition.

Tribe manager Rainier Carado already received P150,000 subsidy out of the proposed P280,000 subsidy to help out the tribes in procuring their costumes, additional equipment and props, transportation and snacks.


Jimena said that in order not to mar the celebration, it was decided that Tribu Aninipay will have to be disqualified from performing and vying in the competition.

The tribes will have to perform for 10 minutes before audience of four performance in the Freedom Grandstand, provincial capitol, Quezon-Ledesma and Ma. Clara.

The contesting tribes are Tribu Panayanon of the Iloilo City National High School, Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, Tribu Atub-atub of Veterans Village, Tribu Ilonganon of the Jalandoni Menorial National High School, Tribu Obreros of Brgy. Buntatala, Jaro, Tribu Angola of Quezon-Delgado St., Tribu Molave of MV Hechanova, Jaro, Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School, Tribu Baybayon of Melchor Nava National High School, and Tribu Milagrosa of Brgy. Poblacion Ilawod, Passi City.
