FILIPINO-Canadians who participated in the January 21 Investment Fair in Iloilo City are inquiring about the possibility of investing in retirement homes and other business opportunities in the city and province of Iloilo.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said many Canadians were asking him about the investment opportunities here during the matching event with local opportunities at strategic locations. The participating Local Government Unit (LGUs) is ready to welcome investors in order to create jobs and be part of the local communities.

Mabilog said that more than 200 Filipino-Canadians participated in the event spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) in assisting LGUs become more business-friendly and competitive.

The Canadians came from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver.

Mabilog said the Filipino-Canadians are satisfied with what they saw in Iloilo and may seek local business partners by providing capital for initial business opportunities such as beauty parlors and food stores.
