MARK “Machete” Bernaldez of Butuan City desired to knock out a 26-year-old opponent Christian Abila of Manila in a boxing fight at the Dumaguete City Quadrangle Tuesday evening.

Bernaldez, in a pre-fight press conference Monday morning, said he preferred a technical knockout (TKO) match.

He wanted to knock Abila out in a round one fight.

Boxing fight records show that Bernaldez is undefeated in all 14 fights with 10 knockouts. He defeated WBC Asian Boxing Council Super Flyweight contender Khukhin Wor Wisaruth of Thailand by 5th round knockout on October 2013.

Bernaldez of ALA promotions also defeated former Indonesia Professional Boxing Commission Super Bantamweight champion Marangin Marbun via 1st round knockout on August 2013.

But Abila said he will first knock Bernaldez out to add to his four-knockout boxing records.

Abila admitted that he is older than his contender from Butuan City.

Records also show that for a total of 29 fights, he won 12 times with four knockouts, 14 loses, and three draws.

Abila is a former PBF Bantamweight champion and Philippine Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Featherweight contender.

He defeated Australian WBC Youth Silver Featherweight contender Jarrett Owen via 4th round knockout on September 2014.

Abila also knocked out WBC Youth World Featherweight contender Randy Megrino on February 2014 and won against PBF Super Bantamweight contender Ariel Delgado via 2nd round knockout on December 2012.

Bernaldez and Abila will fight for 10-rounder main event to highlight the ALA-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing in connection with the city fiesta celebration.

Aside from Barnaldez and Abila, Brian “Buhawi” Lobitana of Bukidnon will also fight against Renenate Suacasa of Koronadal City for 10 rounds boxing fight. (VLC/Sunnex)
