AT LEAST 500 trees were planted by youth members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Zamboanguita town, Negros Oriental Saturday morning.

The more than 50 officers of the Children Worship Service (CWS) from the local congregation of Dumaguete City drove to Sitio Dumandan in Bangcolotan village to plant 300 mahogany trees and 200 jackfruit and guyabano trees in a land owned by Mansueto Adanza.

Negros Oriental ecclesiastical district minister Azriel Pelaez lead the tree planting activity together with some ministers of the gospel and head deacons.

Brother Pelaez told Sun.Star that part of INC’s advocacy is to protect the environment by supporting the greening program of the government.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources supplied 500 seedlings for the tree planting activity. (Victor L. Camion)
