A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl died after she accidentally fell down while holding a kitchen knife.

Jhosaine Diama of Purok 5, Barangay West Balabag, Valencia, Negros Oriental, was proclaimed dead on arrival at the private-run Holy Child Hospital Sunday morning.

Valencia Police Chief Wilfredo Villoria said the girl sustained a stab wound in her right chest, causing her death.

Villoria clarified, though, that it was just an accident, as the child was reportedly playing inside their backyard while holding a kitchen knife.

While running, the girl accidentally fell down. The kitchen knife she was holding hit her right chest.

Dennis Diama, the victim’s father, said that he and his wife were not around when the incident happened.

He said he drove his wife to work in Dumaguete City around 8 a.m. and he was about to return home when he received a call from his nephew about it.

Jhosaine, a Grade 2 pupil of Valencia Central School, is the only child of Dennis and Josephine Diama. (VLC)
