PSKAI HQ tops karatefest

THE Davao City-Philippine Shotokan Karatedo Association International (PSKAI) Takai Gijiutsu Headquarters emerged overall champion in the recently-concluded 29th Mayor Rody and Vice-Mayor Paolo Duterte Kadayawan sa Dabaw Karatefest Invitational Tournament held at the NCCC Mall, Davao City over the weekend.

PSKAI-TakaiGijutsu struck for a total of nine gold medals, seven silvers and nine bronzes while Tacurong City's Stallion Shotokan Karate-do Club placed second with four golds, six silvers and two bronzes.

The City's Traditional Karate Club came third by copping four golds, two silvers and four bronzes followed by Davao del Sur's Inawayan Kan Karate-do team that accounted for four golds, two silvers and two bronzes.


Indonesian School PSKAI-chapter, which had a 3-3-2 medal count was fifth as 2-2-0 Kauswagan Karate-do Team and PSKAI CDO-chapter, 0-1-5 Times Beach Club PSKAI and 0-0-1 Holy Cross of Mintal, Inc. trailed behind.

Tournament manager and Philippine Shotokan Karatedo Association International (PSKAI) president Bern Rexander Tacay, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, thanked NCCC Mall Davao for hosting the said karatefest.

"I am very much happy with the turnout of players. I didn't expect it to surpass our expectations. Overall, I'm also proud that Davao karatekas were able to excel again in their respective divisions," Tacay said.

Winners received cash prizes and medals courtesy of the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).
