THE two-day 29th Kadayawan Volleyball Invitational League unfurls at 7 a.m. Saturday (August 30) at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) regional director D' Artagnan "Daks" Yambao said it will feature the boys and girls grade school and High School boys categories.

Ateneo de Davao University (Addu), Holy Cross College of Sasa (HCCS), Gen. Baptist Bible College (GBBC), Assumption College of Davao (ACD), Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANS) and the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) will vie for the High School boys title.

In grade school boys, playing for the crown are Jose Bastida Elementary School (JBES), Kabacan Elementary School, Addu and UIC while competing in the girls event are GBES, JBES, UIC and Kabacan Elementary School.

The two groups in the six-team High School division will play a single round robin in the elimination round. The top teams in each group will clash in the championship while the second best teams in each bracket will play for third place.

In the grade school category, teams will be classified through drawing of lots. The first and second teams will play against each other while the third team will collide with the fourth team and the winners will play for the title. The losers will battle for third.

All matches will be played in best of three sets.

Champion teams will each receive P2,500 while the runners-up will pocket P2,000. The next two placers will claim P1,500 and P1,000. The top four teams will also get trophies and team certificates.

Certificates will also be awarded to the fifth and sixth placers in the volleyfest organized as part of the Kadayawan sportsfest presented by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office. (MLSA)
