Ciudades fun ride hits road Sunday

SOME 400 riders are expected to see action in the Lapanday Properties Inc.- supported Ciudades Kadayawan Fun Ride and Mountain Bike Race that will unreel on Sunday at 6 a.m. from Victoria Plaza Mall along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada to Ciudades, Mandug.

This was bared by Mumho Riders president Ferdie James Nervida during his guesting at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall B3 Center yesterday.

Visiting delegations from General Santos City, Tagum City, Cotabato City, and Montevista have also confirmed their participation in the MTB race that features women's, intermediate, beginners and open-elite categories.


Registration fee is P350 inclusive of a jersey, one raffle entry, one meal stub, and one day access at Ciudadesbike park in Mandug.

Cash prizes await top finishers in each category. Champion in the open-elite category will take home P5,000 and a medal while the next two finishers will pocket P3,000 and P2,000. The intermediate top three finishers will claim P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

Prizes of P2,000, P1,500, and P1,000 will be awarded to the top three placers in the women's and beginners categories.

The biggest delegation will also get P3,000. One GO PRO Hero 3 White Edition worth P14,000, gift certificates from Outback Grill and different merchandises will be at stake during the raffle draw.

Defending champion Ronnie Urdaneta of Rody Duterte Cycling team, who recently placed fifth in the Asean Mountain Bike (MTB) Cup last June, will also join in the competition.

Interested participants may register at the GTC Cycle Center in Agdao City.

"It's been the initiative of the Mumho Riders to organize this kind of competition during Kadayawan not only to promote the Ciudades Bike Park but also to celebrate the Kadayawan festivity," Ferdie Nervida said in vernacular.

Nervida, meanwhile, invites all Dabawenyos to support their event this coming Sunday.

The event is sponsored by Barney's Bikes, Go Pro, Ridea, Outback Grill, and Mumho Riders.
