SOME 2,000 participants are expected to race in the 2nd "Dagan para sa Kalambuan" Run for a cause that will hit the road on August 31 in an out-and-back course from the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

This was bared by Royal Mandaya Hotel marketing officer Guada Flavia Gamboa who guested along with Fun Run Committee chairman Brandon Borras in the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall B3 Center Friday.

Borras said, "In celebration of the 16th anniversary of the Grand Regal Hotel, we have organized this non-revenue fun run event to give special recognition to our valued clients, guests, and participants for the continued support to our business."

The event features 3K, 5K, and 10K categories. Registration fees are P300 (3K) and P400 (5K, 10K) inclusive of singlet, race bib, certificate of participation, raffle coupon, and buffet breakfast.

"Since nakakuha kami ng 1,250 runners in last year's event, hopeful kami na ma-offset namin yan and maging successful ulit ang event namin for the second time," Borras said.

They currently have 800 registered participants that stakes total cash prize of P100,000.

Interested runners may register at North Face stall at the SM Annex and Adidas shop at Gaisano Mall of Davao until August 23.

All participants, however, are required to sign a waiver before they can join the event while 70 marshalls will look into the technical side of the race.

Special awards will be awarded to the barefoot runners who will finish the event and the biggest delegation.

Gamboa, meanwhile, bared that they will also hold a Zumba for a cause on September 6 at the Lantawan Hall, Royal Mandaya Hotel.

"The Zumba event will be on its second year and we also expect some 600 participants for this event," Gamboa said. The P300 registration is inclusive of cocktail drink and raffle coupon.

Eight zumba instructors from Davao City will spearhead the said event.

Special awards and merchandise will be given to the Mr. and Ms. Zumba, oldest and youngest participants, and biggest delegation.

"With our advertisements and promotions in radio and newspapers, we are confident we would be reaching our target participants," Gamboa added.

Gamboa, for her part, said they are excited to do this to showcase the services of the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Proceeds of both events will go to their outreach activity in Calinan set Sept. 13. (KRP)
